I am senior expert in biotechnology and active in Regulatory and Government Affairs in Nutrition&Health, BASF SE. Next to supporting strategies, R&D projects and sales products, I am engaged in shaping the legislative and regulatory landscape and in opening the markets for innovative industrial biotech products, like vitamins, HMOs and enzymes, both in the EU and globally. 

I am CropLife´s Female Food Hero, UN Food Systems Hero, 2bAhead Mentee, RuleBreaker, and Keynote Women Speaker. I am appointed to the Board of Trustees at AFSI and to the Scientific Advisory Board of GeneNeer. I am author of scientific and regulatory/legal papers and multiple patent holder. Being a popular speaker, I am invited annually to several keynotes, panel discussions and town halls as well as summer schools, webinars and partnering events.

Previously, I was responsible for the political work at BASF Plant Science and worked as Head of Research Plant Biotechnology on new plant biotech traits. Engaged in political / authority work and public outreach as well as approvals for cultivation, import and field trials for novel crop plants. Active in R&D projects like healthy fatty acids in rapeseed, optimized starch composition in potato, high yielding rice, fungal-resistant potato, and herbicide resistant soybean as well as in developing new molecular enabling tools.

I studied biology and chemistry at University Münster, Germany and Stanford University, USA. Graduated in molecular plant physiology at the IGF (Institut für Genbiologische Forschung GmbH) in Berlin and completed two postdocs at the MPI (Max-Planck-Institute) in Golm and University of Freiburg, Germany, before starting in industry.


Ich bin Senior Experte für Biotechnologie und aktiv im Bereich Regulatory and Government Affairs im Bereich Nutrition&Health, BASF SE. Neben der Unterstützung von Strategien, F&E-Projekten und Verkaufsprodukten bin ich an der Gestaltung der Gesetzgebungs- und Regulierungslandschaft und der Öffnung der Märkte für innovative industrielle Biotech-Produkte wie Vitamine, HMOs und Enzyme beteiligt, in der EU / weltweit.

Ich bin CropLife’s Female Food Hero, UN Food Systems Hero, 2bAhead Mentee, RuleBreaker und Keynote Women Speaker. Ich bin in das Kuratorium von AFSI und in den wissenschaftlichen Beirat von GeneNeer berufen worden. Ich bin Autor von wissenschaftlichen und regulatorisch-rechtlichen Artikeln und mehrfacher Patentinhaber. Als beliebter Redner werde ich mehrfach jährlich zu Keynotes, Podiumsdiskussionen und Town Halls eingeladen sowie zu Summer Schools, Webinaren und Partnering-Events.

Davor verantwortete ich die politische Arbeit bei BASF Plant Science und arbeitete als Gruppenleiter in der Forschung der Pflanzenbiotechnologie an neuen Pflanzenmerkmalen. Engagiert in Politik-, Behörden- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit sowie Anbau-, Import- und Feldversuchsgenehmigungen für neuartige Kulturpflanzen. Aktiv in F&E-Projekten wie gesunde Fettsäuren in Raps, optimierte Stärkezusammensetzung in Kartoffeln, ertragreicher Reis, pilzresistente Kartoffeln und herbizidresistente Sojabohnen sowie in der Entwicklung neuer molekularer Werkzeuge.

Ich habe Biologie und Chemie an der Universität Münster, Deutschland und der Stanford University, USA, studiert. Promoviert habe ich in Molekularer Pflanzenphysiologie am IGF (Institut für Genbiologische Forschung GmbH) in Berlin und habe zwei Postdocs am MPI (Max-Planck-Institut) in Golm und der Universität Freiburg, Deutschland, absolviert bevor ich in die Industrie wechselte.
